Default Engine choice

So i'm looking at what engine swap i should buy before I go FI. I have my entire FI setup planned out and it should be a very nice reliable setup that will put down good power. My goals are around 250whp daily and 300ish when i turn the boost up. Now im starting to think maybe i should aim higher. I care more about low to mid-range torque than hp as the car will see 90% street driving. So my first choice is a simple B18B swap with a GSR tranny. They make better torque numbers from what ive seen on turbo setups and are alot cheaper to replace if something goes wrong. Only reason im doubting going this route is the fact that the engine will have to be used and u never really know what the condition is of the engine or how it was driven unless u pull it from ur friends car. So now im thinking Ls/vtec but im not sure how that would compare as far as being more reliable for turbo etc. with the turbo setup im planning on the B18B i shoudl put down easy 250whp on 10psi and 300whp on 15psi, what numbers would u expect from an LS/vtec? Do you think an LS/vtec is better for turbo than a regular LS? Last question is do you think its worth the money or should i look at something else to make the engine itself more reliable?
