Most whp engine swap
I am looking for a good engine to put into my 94 dx coupe. I am eventually looking to go turbo and get about 400whp. I do not want to spend to much on the engine swap itself, but i am not trying to get by cheaply. I am just wondering the best engine for high hp and torque for relatively cheap, and a good turbo to go with and how much psi, if i could even get a civic to run 400whp. Thanks

Re: Most whp engine swap (civicdxcpe)
if u want that much hp get another car. yeah u can make that in a civic, but its dumb for a street car. get something rwd or awd so you can manage some traction.
if you want a turbo honda, a B18b ls motor is fairly cheap and is good for turbo setups. that way u can spend more money on the turbo.
...you need to do a lot of searching and reading in the forced induction forum.

The B16 is not the best motor for a boost project. As mentioned, either the B18B or B18C would be a good starting point, although neither one is particularly cheap.
Once again, I'll bring this up: why 400whp? What is that going to get you as a driver? There's no traction, handling, gas mileage or smoothness with that kind of power, so why do you want it? Do you even understand how much **** you have to do to safely milk that much hp out of a Honda?
You take your 400whp car and I'll make a 250whp one and beat you in HPDE, AutoX, Drag, etc. You name it, 250hp is a much better goal for a street driven Honda. If you want 400whp for a dick swinging achievement you'd be better off starting with an LS1 TransAM, Camaro or Corvette because they can actually use the power.
Until you start blowing up rearends, at least .

I agree with everything you said except LS swaps are relatively cheap. Go LS man for the money it's your best bet lots of options and plenty of stock torque

Re: Most whp engine swap (SirRevvs)
so 250whp is the best hp i am looking at getting. Thanks that is all i am looking for I didn't figure 400 is a achievable amount. and you are right with front wheel drive it would not handle for ****. So how much is a LS swap and would i be able to turbo it cheaply and get about 250whp. Thanks again sorry about asking for to much whp.

LS swap depends on where you get it from. prob about $800-1300. ANd as far as turbo goes (which is a good option for LS) you can build a kit for less than a grand but you need pretty good mechanical knowledge. This site might help you out http://www.homemadeturbo.com

I think people shoot for such high numbers because they ahve no clue. How many people can say they sat in a 250hp car??? I used to be like that. Then I sat in a car with about 180whp and it was awesome. If I ever went turbo again I would shoot for around the 200-250 range and be done with it. Besides I wouldnt wqant to dump the money into making a Honda do 400whp relaibly
