Default suggestions please

by the summer of '03 i want to do an engine swap into my 95 SE since my current engine is at around 145k. I want to run low 13s and still have it be a daily driver. What i'm thinking of so far are these:

B18c1 + turbo ( i was thinking a b18c5 but im gonna lower the compression anyway so there wouldn't be any point in spending the extra money for a c5 right?

B18b + turbo (cheaper than the c1 so i could build it up more and run higher boost but no VTEC)

H22a + turbo (more torque more horsepower but i've heard that they're not very good as a daily driver once swapped into a teg body, broken axles and stuff)

I don't want LS/Vtec cuz i've hear they're too much maintenance and too many problems with them but any other suggestions or any info you guys could provide would greatly help me with my decision. I'll probally buy and store stuff over the winter (engine, pistons, turbo kit, etc.) then install it once spring hits. Thanks guys

You're going to have plenty of maintenance with your turbo setup as well. I'm not a FI wiz or anything, I'm sure one of these boost addicts will step in here and correct me if I give you a bum steer, but I'd like on the B18b + turbo of the setups you mentioned. Course if it were me I'd go for a NA + NOS setup on with the GSR motor, but that's just me. Good luck with whatever you choose, looks like you're off to a good start taking your time and weighing your options carefully.

what u are planning for is not till a long time away....in between time why dont u read up on some stuff, try to knowledge urself.........

~~think about this, is a turbo integra worth more to u than a M3, u could trade ur car in plus all the money u have to do this setup and buy a totaly different car,.....but than again its all about what u want to do

if you're knowledgable enough to do a swap/turbo install+tune,
why not build your stock motor instead of wasting money on
swapping in another stock motor?

I've already done significant interior modifications to my teg, thats why i want to keep her

I have researched turbo systems extensively so I know what to buy to make it run safely and reliably, i just want to know if having VTEC is actually that much more of a gain when it comes to turboing an engine, cuz if not then ill just get the cheaper b18b

Don't you already have the cheaper B18b? Yes 145k is allot to add a turbo, but rather than spend a bundle swapping motors you could do as this other wise gentleman suggested and build that one. Have it bored, get low compression forged pistons, billet rods, new bearings...I think you get the pic.

That would be the most cost effective solution if you're going turbo. Your current motor once built would be able to withstand substantial boost without yeilding. Vtec on turbo tegs is not very beneficial from what I understand.

Assuming there is NO damage on your current motor...no difference, just saved coin.
