Default Which Electronic Boost Controller?

Well i am trying to make all my decisions on parts for my first big setup and I plan on making at and above 350 whp. now i know that an electronic boost controller isnt necessary but i assume with alot of power like i intend to run it will be almost imperative to have some kind of boost control to keep traction..i have searched but found nothing that really answered my question. So my question is what are the options for EBCs and which ones would be best bang for buck. thanks

It really depends on what options your looking for and the budget. For example if you've got a budget of aroun 400-500 turbosmart makes a pretty cool EBC that allows you set a different boost level for every gear. Blitz makes one like that. If your looking to just control boos then maybe switch to high boost when your in third you could look at something like the greddy profec series with remote switching. Though switching boost while driving even with the remote can be a pain. The profec's start in the low 300's.

really depends on what you are looking for, i have an Apex'i AVCR since my tuner likes it and knows how to use it well, plus it has a boost by gear, and boost by RPM feature. The only thing to watch out for on that unit is that all the numbers are metric numbers. So if you can't convert, i'd make a table/chart and learn

Yeah i was thinking of something with gear dependent boost i really wouldnt like having to change boost manually through gears..
does the AEM EMS have any boost control features..

I like the original Profec B as it's easy to use, holds boost, has two channels for boost and doesnt cost allot. I also like the Blitz SBC i-D. A friend and I (I will let him post if he wants) installed mine on his car last night. Install took about an hour and a half to two hours due to not having all the parts we needed. The auto mode is crap though. We wasted about an hour trying to get the auto mode to work so I finally said fsck it and turned all the channels back to manual. Took me about three or four passes to get all the channels dialed in correctly. It looks like my friend is making boost sooner (about 200 RPM) than he did with the MBC. We have yet to use the scramble boost function but we might play with that a little bit tonight. Basically you choose the channel you want to scramble boost in for a certain amount of time. You can boost in channel one (9.8lbs) for let's say three seconds and it will move to another channel (higher boost) channel after that time. It also has a boost limiter (not sure how good it works yet) that allows you to dial in an amount of boost, when you hit that amount of boost it will flash red / make an audible warning and it will lower your boost to a desired level input by you. It has peak boost logs and you can record you boost for sixty seconds and play it back on the controller. Seems to hold boost good too

Thanks for the good info...you said you like the original profec b i see alot of these for sale saying they upgraded cuz it didnt hold boost good and might need a new solenoid...is that a common problem? I am still undecided if i will get a EBC first or if i will just wait and upgrade to it later to save money.... thanks fellaz
