Default ectune boost solinoid/control

hey guys

currently running a hks evc5 boost controller on my turbo setup.. had it on the dyno before christmas and the little lights on the aduster dials started flashing and it was boostin up alot quicker than normal, anyways switched off the ignition and restarted and it sorted itself out.. (maybe the solinoid was stuck open) but it got me thinking is there much improvement to be had in terms of spool time with a better controller..

im running ectune and was looking at going for the ectune boost controller solinoid as it looks like it has more adjustment in it to help speed up spool time and also the boost by gear option.

just wanted to know if anyones running an ectune with the boost controller setup and how they rate it in comparison to something like what i have (hks evc 5) my controller is pretty much turn the dial until you reach the desired boost, push it back in and your done. no duty/offset adjustment etc etc

thanks - dan

I have ectune and have the boost solenoid and it's great. No issues at all and it's cheap

i run ectune with the ebc solenoid. works great, easy to use. set boost by adjusting duty cycle and then you can make temperature adjustments so you run the same PSI at different ambient temps. the fast spool option works great too.

i also noticed it was alot more consistent when i switched out my rubber vacuum lines with the DOT plastic push lock type lines. not sure of the correct term for those at the moment...

only thing missing is being able to ramp boost by RPM per gear.

Boost by speed is on its way with a box to allow you to input rear wheel speed into the ECU.. Also eCtune's EBC can be configured to run in closed loop operation, this will ensure consistant boost..

If you require basic functions like your EVC5, then it also becomes very simple to set up inside ECTune for those basic functions (target boost across entire RPM).

However, I am sure once you've upgraded to a boost solenoid setup, you'd realize you want gear-based boost or RPM based boost anyway
