Im in the process of building a 550hp b18. I plan to use an egt probe 3rd runner before turbo.
My concerns would be how well do these probes hold together. I would hate for the tip to break off destroying my turbo..
So i would like to hear experiences to decide if i should worry or not.

I've never had a probe break and I only run exposed junction probes, they respond faster and are more accurate in terms of temperature readings and temperature changes.
if you have a closed junction probe those are nearly impossible to break.

how do you
differentiate between exposed junction or closed junction?
i do plan to build boost off the line i would imagine it gets pretty violent .

i also run the open probe in both my turbo and my all motor cars. i have to have 50,000 miles combined they hold up just fine.
how prone to fouling are the exposed probes when subject to burning oil lets say?

Hard to foul them, they don't transmit current or anything. just heat based resistance.
only thing that could happen is if the open junction gets too hot the junction will snap off but they are fairly robust. I've been using the same open junction probe for 8 years with no issues.
