efi pms vs. afc hack
i have a b18a about to be junk yard turbo'ed. have rhb5 turbo eclipse intercooler and bov and 450 injectors. stock wastegate at 7-9lbs. i read that the safc hack will make my car run like it came stock with turbo. but i can get a pms for about the same price but not too sure on how to use it. also heard that the pms is not too good with 450 injectors. which one should i go with?
Definitely PMS. I had a PMS on my turbo prelude 2 years ago with 550cc injectors. Of course you're gonna need to learn how to tune it. It's the closest thing to a standalone there is.
PMS stands for Programmable Management System and is manufactured by EFI Systems (www.efisystems.com). Gives you good control for fuel and timing and can also read boost. Comes with a handheld so there is no laptop necessary.
Im using the PMS on my car with 450cc injectors from a DSM and it idles and runs great!! tuning is simple and there are alot of options to the unit, like 2 stage rev limiter, Nitrous control , boost control there's a few more but i dont use them. For the price of the VAFC you can get a used pms for 500 bucks!
I agree. The afc is easy to tune but that is mostly due to the number of options available. The pms has more options and if you look hard enough you will find someone that is trying to unload one for about the same price.

To anyone interested, my buddy has a pms system with the Interacq software which allows you to tune with a laptop and set it in standalone mode. It's for obd1 cars and price is $600. Let me know if anyone is interested. Paul

what are your setting on the PMS.
I am selling my EFI PMS for 92-00 honda/acuras with the peak and hold injector driver (so you can run low impedance injectors) for $500 shipped. Let me know if you're interested.
This PMS sounds better than the PMS I am used to seeing, but the AFC's are going for $300 or less, shipped these days. Signifigantly lower than the PMS, even used.
