dyno tuning - WTF?
Everyone always says to tune your car when you go turbo, but what if you have nothing to tune it with?
I don't have an AFC, hondata or any standalone - so how do I tune? All I have is the revhard stage two, gauges and the AVCR...
I have always been confused on this...
Thanks for the help!
Dave

Re: dyno tuning - WTF? (wonny)
so it is just to monitor but not to adjust?
Ok...
Spanks,
Dave

you put it on the dyno and a wideband O2, this will tell you if you're running overly rich or (more likely) overly lean.
Then you have the option to either
a) Ignore the problem, start saving your $$ for the engine rebuild that will be coming your way in the near future
b) Buy whatever parts you must to correct the problem (adjustable FMU, larger fuel pump, AFC, standalone, whatever) and return to the dyno prepared to tune your car.

Re: dyno tuning - WTF? (wonny)
haha i always laugh when people say that too. "get it tuned"
basically ur running the same thing i am, just a bolt on kit w/ FMU and no other devices. so there is nothing to tune really. u can adjust timing, thats it for now.
I wanted to know that my car was safe to run and in a good state of tune so i put it on the dyno w/ a wideband and got my A/F. it was safe but not optimum(10-11:1) for max power. but thats ok, as long as its safe. had it been too lean then at least i would know not to run it, and i would know that i need to change something before i run it. i guess u could say that is tuning also, i would just get it on a dyno and make sure it is "in a safe tune"

Re: dyno tuning - WTF? (DIRep972)
DIRep972,
I LOVE YOU. That is the exact thing that I was asking. I believe that kit came with a new fuel pump, right? How much boost are you running?
In any case, I'm going to get it on the dyno and see what my AF is reading at. If it needs adjusting, I'll adjust it.
THANKS AGAIN BRO.
Dave.
