Have you made the proper adjustments to lower the compression on your car. To be safe you should also retard your timing 2 or 3 degrees. About boost spike, I have yet to see any with my EX and I have the exact exhaust mods that you do(high flow cat,2.5" downpipe, Tial 35mm, and Apexi N1 exhaust).

I have a custom kit on my R w/ the Delta gate and it boost spikes from 5 to like 9psi at high rpms, but I have a headgasket to lower compression......still I have to watch the boost gauge and let off it when the boost starts to creep. It really handycaps (sp?) my car because Im yet to feel the full power of my turbo, but from what I have heard you should be safe with the tial gate, which is what Im going with soon. I have a bit more play with the boost spiking then you would at stock compression so if it spikes just get off it.
