Default boost creep?

what could create a boost creep besides the vacumm line that runs from the turbo to the wastegate??? the reason i ask is because i have had a boost creep problem ever since ive had my drag gen3 kit , ive heard of occasional boost creep, but my car creeps to 14-17 lbs anytime i go wot , i even ditched the deltagate for a tial 35mm, and it still does it,
any adivice will be greatly appreciated

Are you running a boost controller? What about DP is it the one that comes with the Drag kit?

chances are, its the manifold, the wastegate placement on the drag manifold isnt the best place

it's the manifold, drag manifold are famous for boost creep...

try to enlarge the diameter of the WG flange inlet opening on the manifold...get a grinder and grind the opening by about 1/8"..it should help quiet a bit...
your wg inlet ( or outlet looking at the manifold) should be about 1.5" in diamter, any smaller than that will prolly give you mad boost creep..

check the diameter on the Tial inlet then port match the outlet on the manifold to the diamter of the tial

when i took my wastegate off i noticed that the metal ring that sits inside the wastgate has a lip on one side..... does that lip go inside the wastegate , ore inthe opening in the manifold, because it doesnt fit inside of the mani, i havent started grinding yet , should i just grind until that ring fits???
thanks

the smaller diamter of the ring should go in the wastegate...the larger one should stick out of the wastegate opening...

dont even bother trying to port that garbage, I tried everything imagninable with the drag mani way back then heh.

yes, the bigger lip...should touch the manifold, the smaller one is inside the the tial

the biggest problem is the manifold.the fact that the wg sits on one cylinder port allows the exhaust to flow past the wastegate, not allowing it to open enough.the problem gets worse the more free-flowing you make everything including intercooler, piping, downpipe, exhaust, etc.it doesn't matter what kind of wastegate you use if your exhaust is outflowing it.the thing to do is get the wastegate to recieve even, unrestricted exhuast pressure from all four cylinders.keep in mind that the more freeflowing your system gets, the harder the problem will be tocontrol.

what can be done about this??? i spend $3000 to boost 7 lbs of boost , and the motherf%%$# boost double that to 15, this is horseshit, and spending more money on another manifold is just gonna **** me off even more, and no one seems to know how to get ahold of drag, ive called import parts(thats where i purchased the kit from) numerous times and they say they dont know whats causin the problem..........sorry i had to vent

it will help a little to open the hole up.try to round the edge coming into the hole, not the side facing away from the hole.you may need to use smaller exhaust.do you have a cat?if not,you may want to put one in to restrict the exhaust flow.i know it is hard to do because it will rob power, but what good is a little more power if you wind up blowing up the car because of creep?also, you can try using larger vacuum hose to the wastegate and try to make it have as little restriction as possible.hope that helps!

ya the Drag mani sucks. I got the same thing and the same problem occures. IOts due to the placement of it. Sitting on cylinder 4. That means that exhaust 1,2 and 3 have to try and back travel to exit and this cause's problems. You can try to relocate your wastegate in the middle of the manifold which HELPS but can be ALOT of work. We did that to a customers and then he dropped it and it craked. SO ya, we made him a complete custom manifold.

Im still running the manifold and Ill be running 15psi daily next year and external dump so I dont think it will be that bad, even with a full3" and a bigger turbo garette t3/t4 .82a/r and stage 3 wheel, 60-1

if you want to relocate it i would suggest putting a blockoff plate where the wastegate was and make a tube come off of the downpipe flange to feed the wastegate.line it up where the hole is in the turbine housing.port it out to match the size of the wastegate and round off the corners so it flows into it good.this is the best way to get all four cylinders to the wastegate evenly.you won't disrupt flow in the manifold and it will work correctly.make sure you put plenty of braces on the pipe though,or it will vibrate enough to make it crack or break.i have had mine this way(except i made a new manifold)for a while now and it works great.even with 3" downpipe, exhaust and intercooler piping.

I had the same problem. All I did was run the vacum line that goes from the wg to the manifold and cap off the one to the turbo. the ones from the bov also go to the manifold and it seemed to keep the creep dwn a lil. still creeps but only like 2psi. not too bad but Im still trying to figure it out myself. let me know if this helps or if you find a better way. laterz

could a lean condition cause boost creep, cause i swapped in some dsm 450's and it holds boost at 8lbs now, i dont why its doing it, but i love it
