Re: Dpfi turbo.
I'm sure somebody has wasted their time and done it to these 20 year old cars.
Problems you will run into are fuel mapping - maybe you can use an FMU - and locating larger injectors.
Anything is possible, but the trouble to turbo a DPFI is not worth the headache.
For under 100 $'s you can go MPFI and make it really easy.

Re: Dpfi turbo.
i did this in 1998
ran fine at 5.5psi and an fmu, never blew the engine and was boosted for over a year
stock the car ran 17.2 and with my dpfi boosted it ran 16.7, so i gained a half a second, which is very good for that boost and a dpfi motor.
i say boost the hell outta it, worst that could happen is you blow your motor, but its not that big of a deal since you will have a turbo kit setup already waiting for the next d series motor you swap in.

Don't bother seriously....
You aren't going to gain 1/8th of the horsepower/tq you'd gain with a MPFI and a better cam.
You'll probably gain more horsepower/tq swapping to MPFI.
People who go turbo UPGRADE their fuel injectors, you're using two injectors... and one isn't even on half the time.

Re: Dpfi turbo.
I like where this is going now!
Why not just fill your window washer fluid bottle with gas and route the hose to the intake tube. Just spray the wipers every time you are in boost!!!

Re: Dpfi turbo.
tapping an injector into the intake tube is actually a valid suggestion.
your comment was just ignorant.

ROFLMAO!
Wow... just wow.
Well, I guess you never have to worry about the throttle body plate ever getting dirty.
(Betting that injector is for a homemade water injection system.)

Re: Dpfi turbo.
i saw on d-series, i think, a guy had done one and used another injector or 2 like above^^
he also used something to retard the timing under boost. cant really remember too much but hope that helps.
GL
oh yeah, you should just mpfi it.
you will be much happier.

Re: Dpfi turbo.
Ok so she is building boost having a new down pipe made today and charge pipe so its not so ghetto. One question with my internal waste gate do I twist the rod in for more boost or twist it out ward. I bought a vortech FMU and it seams to be working great considering its not that cheap ebay crap. Also if I might ad. I have. Total of 400 into this car including the price of the car. NO joke. Soon ill swap MPFI but I'm having fun with the DPFI for a bit

Re: Dpfi turbo.
The problem with the DPFI motors isn't the fueling - it's the motor's toothpick rods. If you do get a proper setup, you'll be very limited by the power you can make. If you do want to go this route, you'll spend another $50-70 for an FMU. That's more than a typical mpfi conversion costs, with manifold, ecu and injectors. THen you can chip it and run FREEWARE such as turboedit or BRE and have full control of fuel and ignition, even get extras like launch control.
If you have a Y8 ready to go in, I'd suggest the MPFI route since you'll be doing that anyways. That's the best bang for the buck, cheaper than a DPFI/fmu or DPFI/3rd injector system.
