Default Don't understand EGT

I got 2 questions first, how do u read egt if its lean or rich and also second when i first installed my turbo supposely it was suppose to be the stock boost settings but it wasn't and i was running 20lb boost so i boosted once or twice but when i saw it went 20 i let go of the gas. Would that have ruined my motor?

Also my motor is stock and it was a greddy kit for gsr

EGT when plotted against AFR creates a bell curve, peak EGT occurs at ~15:1 AFR(stoichiometery), and falls off the richer or leaner the AF mixture. Therefore you really can’t tell if you are rich or lean unless you have an accompanying AFR meter.

Correct me if I am wrong, but if the temp is too hot it is lean, and if it is too cold it is too rich.

Not always.

over rich can show high EGT's as can low timing. The unburnt fuel burns in the manifold and it causes high EGT when it burns in the manifold.

Also Vaportrail has a really good article on here, search for that under his SN.

it's possible, but does the motor make any strange noises, does it knock or tap, does it not have as much power, does it overheat, does it lose coolant or oil??

if the motor seems to be running properly than most likely nothing dramatic happened inside it. i would definantly check it out though.

check compression on your motor, make sure your rings and ring lands are still in good shape.

If it happened once maybe twice, you should be ok.

I boosted 13psi when i first hooked my kit up. Open downpipe - boost spike

the wastegate was broken so it would never open for the air to go thru the downpipe. bought me a turbo xs one and its fine now . But the bottom has a funny sound now. I guessed it it phucked
