do eagle rods need block notched on D series
I may have found the answer, but I need different views. I want to rebuild my d for boost with eagle rods and JE pistons. I found two different eagle ESP h-beam rods on nolimitmotorsport.com, one rod was 510 gram weight and was a note of: STOCK
The 520 gram weight rod had a note: cylinder/rod modification required due to larger size. Hopefully that means the 510 DOESNT need notched? Maybe someone can help me. I really dont want to notch anything. I just want factory spec parts.

I didn't even know they made two different sets, but notching the block really isn't hard to do if it comes down to it. If you are building a block and are shooting for some power and they are the same price, you might as well get the beefy ones.
eagle or your engine builder would know which ones required notching or not.
if you need to notch the block, it's easy and cheap. Dont get the cheaper rods if that's you only determining factor.
platinum.

I was just hoping to do a quick, in car engine rebuild, nothing major. I just wanted upgraded but factory spec parts.
I got the Eagle rods that supposably did not need notching, but they did need notching. The rods are just to thick for the 75mm bore. Theres a good write up on the Endyn site of how to do it. I'll see if I can find it.
Here is the Endyn D series Build Article, with the cylinder notching:

I am putting eagle rods in my D-series and found that the block does have to be notched... from what I have see it will run you around $100 to get the work done in a machine shop

Just follow the steps in the link above. It's a piece of cake to do yourself.

I dont know if I want to do it myself because I dont want to take the chance of messing it up... I have put nearly 1k into sleeves and a block guard into my block and another $100 to complete it with a shop guarentee is worth it to me at the moment

I think he's asking why you would bother with a blockguard if you already have aftermarket sleeves.

Blockguard will not fit with ductile iron aftermarket sleeves.
BTW, I believe when Eagle switched to the 3/8" bolt, the rod increased weight from 510 to 520 grams because of that switch...but the rods are the same size overall and the block still needs to be notched.

Block guards are useless! They won't save your motor from blowing up. Just tune your car and you won't have to worry. Go with stock sleeves or aftermarket sleeves.
