Default Default Oil Cooler Advice

Hi Guys ,
I hope everyone is doing just fine. I am planning to get an oil cooler for my setup (D16ZC turbo , build bottom end stock sleeves)

I have a few questions in mind ( searched around a bit but could not find answers to these )

1-) My Oil pressure at cold start is 70 PSI , and when warmed up it hovers in between 22-25 Psi ( are these oil right ? )

2-) My Oil temps when giving 3 constant runs ( 22psi ) reaches to 95-97C ...and takes alot of time to cool down. Will getting an oil cooler be beneficial for me ?

3-) I am getting an evo 4 oil cooler with fitting in a very good price. Will this be too big /too small for my setup ?

4-) How much effect will the oil cooler be having on my Oil pressure ( this is the most imp thing i am scared off :S )

I`ll be very thank full if you guys can help me out here

1.)Cold start psi seems low to me but warmed up is okay assuming you mean at idle.
2.)Those oil temps aren't that bad. According to the google conversion 97C is about 206.6F. Normal conventional survives until about 230F before thermal breakdown IIRC. Most synthetics will last to 270-280F IIRC. Your oil temps are not that excessive.
3.)Don't know.
4.)With any oil cooler setup you NEED a thermostat inline with the oil cooler to stop flow under a certain temperature(usually 180F). The easiest way of doing this is to get a thermostatic oil sandwich plate. If you don't run a thermostat with an oil cooler it's possible to rob the engine of oil needed when cold and during normal driving. As far as exact or estimated pressure losses, I couldn't say. I guess that would depend on the health of your oiling system.

Yeah I actually try not to run my engine hard till it hits 180-200f

I dont think an oil cooler is gonna help. If youre drag racing, youre not running the engine long enough to worry about oil temps. If anything not having on helps more since the closer to operating temp your oil is, the better

Thanks for the help guys

Another quick question . With a thicker oil line the drop in oil pressure would be less and the pressure will drop more in a thinner line ? correct ?

or is it the other way around ?
