Debating stainless valves...
I have spare head sitting on my table in pieces, getting ready to send it to the machine shop for a cleanup/resurfacing. I dont really plan on porting it out, according to most on here the money is better spend elsewhere. I'm putting in a crower turbo grind cam, springs and retainers, my sticking point at the moment is whether or not to replace the valves with stainless ones. I dont plan on revving it to something crazy (stock is 6800, I might open it up to 7000 or 7200) but whats got me a little worried is the rocker ratios slamming the valves open and closed (1.7 intake, 1.9 exhaust) combined with stiffer valve springs messing up the stockers with the higher heat from boost and possibly snapping one off.
Would stainless valve springs even help this situation?
Is it really worth it to swap out the valves? Just peace of mind in this case or might there be an actual durability benefit?
Its a D17A2, GT28R, currently at 7psi making the numbers in my sig. Once I have the fuel system converted to return w/ bigger injectors, my new IM on and the car running on an EMS as opposed to e-manage, i'm gonna push it up over 200.
I do know this much... ALL the valve bits are the same as D16 parts (the valves, the guides, seals, springs and retainers), so someone ought to know something about this, despite me having the bastard child motor.
Thanks
