you need to lubricate the turbo with oil.

if you dont put oil feed and return lines the turbo is going to heat up and seize, if you put the lines on then you could run the car without intercooler pipes but you wont get any boost sounds to me like you need to do a little more recearch before you do this.

why would you do that? are you just waiting for the rest of the parts?

basicly dont do it unless your ready for boost.

I don't think you'll break the engine but you will most definately break your turbo.

To ANYONE who is planning on operating a turbocharged vehicle without oil as a LUBRICANT in either the turbo or any part of the engine that it is necessary please do one of the two options 1)Ask yourself "Should I really be working in the automotive industry?" or 2) Go to http://www.tunertoys.com and make the small investment in the proper equipment that it takes to operate yours/his/her/whosever vehicle. This therory applies everywhere in this industry.

agreed. the best place for this guy to have a turbo on his car is on top of the spare tire in the trunk.

getting a turbo car up and running is NOT cheap. you need a bunch of simple stuff that can make or break your day. little stuff like vacume line, t-fittings, oil pan drilled and tapped (obiously) turbo return/feed line, all the intake and intercooler piping an intercooler, wastegate (unless internally gated) and a good tune. you dont want to half *** an NA to turbo swap EVER..you always have to plan **** out. it took me a good 2 months to get everything i needed. and that still wasnt enough. i had to trim my block, cut and re-weld my intake pipe cuz it was to short..do some research and buy the stuff you need to get

He's probably thinking about the turbanator... no you don't need oil lines for that piece of shat. However, I suggest you do your research about turbochargers... http://www.howstuffworks.com should give you some basic answers, after this look at some turbo kits online (turbonetics, HKS, greddy, etc)... see what parts come with the kits they sell, that should give you an idea what you need for a complete kit.

Answer is no, you will be fine without oil lines and it wont break your engine. Just get a turbo off a huge mack truck, If the turbo is small enough where your engine cant turn it, it shouldnt do any damage.

So you mean to tell me the only way the motor sees air, is because the turbo is spinning? I seem to recall several threads where people are complaining about they're turbo's not spinning at idle. I wonder how the motor is still running?

So, I just tested this with a blown turbo I have laying around. It wont spin at all. Yet, when I applied air to the inlet, it came out the other side of the compressor. (that would lead to the charge pipe)

Maybe my blown turbo is magical!

Either way, like Platinum said. "Dont do it unless your ready for boost"
