We tried 85.5 on a friends B16. Didn't hold HG's worth crap, and it started to see blowby not long after we got it running, I think the cylinders became out of round. I would sell the block and start fresh, or have it resleeved.

When you do it, have the machine shop use a torque plate to do the hone. It will keep the cylidners more true. - A good guy on this board gave me that very helpful tip. There are a few guys in the all motor forum running 87mm bore on a B Series.. Just make very sure both surfaces are flat as possible.
B19 coupe also had luck with indian head gasket sealer. I am anxious to here out it goes.
My 86mm motor shoul dbe done tommorrow night.

I agree. I think a lot of people shy away from 86mm becasue they are told it is impossible.
I too was scared in the beginning because of what I heard. The only con is that you at your limit so if something does break it doesn't leave much room for correcting it. I would not be afraid to boost like on the 86 just as you would on a 85 or an 84. If it blows the gasket then dial back the boost.

Re: .::need info on 86mm gsr::. (kevino002)
well I finally got the car on the street. I took it to the dyno and found out that I need to replace the coil and one of the spark plug wires was bad so I just got a MSD 6Al and some MSD plugs. I went back to the dyno about a week later and was only able make one pass, the injector on #4 cyle. was not working, so I make just under 300whp at 6-8psi with only 3 cylenders. I am going to replace the injectors this week and get it back on the dyno. I have put about 500 miles on it boosting 6-8psi before the injector went. will update soon.

Have been running the motor for about 6 months on 8-9psi and have had no problems with the HG, going to the dyno soon to tune for higher psi and more power, will keep you updated.
