D16y4 seeks 2 bar of boost project.
Hello Honda-tech, so a little about myself before we get in depth, 26 year old truck mechanic from Scotland, Currently Living, Sleeping and Working in Sydney, Australia. My names Mike, recently turned 26 and decided to carry out a big bhp d series build before i get old, settle down and buy an expensive european sedan. Also had a bit of a crappy private life recently and want to take my mind off things, so most of my money, effort and time is being poured into this build.
The car is an EH9 so basically an eg sedan. Engine in car atm is d16y5, this will be removed and replaced with the boosted y4.
Bhp target is around 400whp
Parts bought/deposit left/awaiting delivery are as follows:
Eagle Rods (9 in total , love spares!)
Srp 9:1 cr pistons 75.5mm
All associated rings,bearings etc
Crower camshaft
Crower adjustable cam gear
Arp head studs
Precision 1000cc injectors
GM 3 Bar map sensor
GoldenEagle fuel rail
Silver Surfer 60-1 ( custom built by The Shodan for EsotericImage) + oil lines
Parts left to buy:
Tubular/ramhorn type manifold + WG
Titanium valve springs + retainers
Oversize s/s valves
Edelbrock victor x + Larger TB
Hondata S300
Suitable HG ( suggestions???)
Intercooler + piping + BOV
PCV
Fuel pump + surge tank + fuel lines
Then after that some machine shop work on the head + block, i have read about porting the oil pump, i still need to research this, any other suggestions for the build would be mostly appreciated. Like i mentioned above i am a mechanic and im not stupid, but im here to learn so i will remain open minded. All the above i would consider neccessary to make the power goal, if anyone thinks more is needed or some parts not required then chime in. I will update the thread with pics soon of some parts i have already recieved, i look forward to sharing my build and gaining knowledge along the way. speak soon . Mike

Looks like you're prepared to spend some real money. I wouldn't bother with the Ramhorn, Victor X or large throttle body though. A stainless log is all you want on the exhaust side. As for the inlet side stock maybe fine for both. See what some of the other's have to say though....
As for the head gasket - The stock multi layed steel gasket is fine...
P.S. Actually, what is the application?

OK, what I mentioned is fine. Don't try to overkill thing's. You select both manifolds to suit the power band... nothing else...

I wouldn't of thought a victor x and a 68mm throttle body would be considered as overkill. Would a head p&p and port match be sufficient? also I was considering titanium
Valve springs and retainers along with ferrea s/s oversize valves, with the crower cam I already have, are the valves, springs and retainers necessary?
