The rods will be modified for D16 engine since right now its huge and it will require more notching than eagles..
So it will be modified to be close to Eagles spec but handling more power at a cheaper price..They will probably lighter than eagles too...
Right now, as fat as it looks, they weight the same as the smaller Eagle rod so even though they are fatter there is no extra weight for the rotation assembly.

pretty neat huh?</TD></TR></TABLE>

this is the only concern i see with your idea
i just checked with my caliper and my eagle rods are 23.99mm wide
i have notched 4 D series for having eagle rods on them.
i have also seen blocks being notched wrong and the notch has been grinded so deep, it has made it to the water jackets.
i wouldnt make your rods any wider than the eagles, or you run the chance of the average builder will run the chance of having this issue.
if you dont think this is an issue, you can see this on the the old one's website

This is exactly my point.. I will modify these rods to be the exact wide as eagles/Scat/TT.. Just the D series Rods, B series will stay wider to support more power(750-800whp)...

In addition as i said..I am already working on an I beam design for D series specifically made to run vitara pistons on D16 with these Characteristics:

** Originally the Vitara piston does not comes up flush to the top of the cylinder(with Eagles or any other manufacturer Rod with standard D16 rod length) thus lowering Compression to 8.5-8.9:1 depending on head & Headgasket..in the case of A6 heads its 8.0:1. With the modification of the rod it will bring the piston up in the cylinder to create a higher CR ratio of around 9.1 - 9.3:1 on Z6 engines and around 9.5:1 on Y8 engines.

** With the I beams i am looking for NO notching of the block or in the case of notching, very minimal.

** A lighter rod.. Eagles/SCAT weight around 500 grams, i am looking to get an I beam(and H beam) that weights less than that. Actually the Eagle rods in the picture i posted weighed 520.63grams (1.15lbs) on a difgital scale at UPS this was with the ARP 2000 bolts installed. The fatter rod(my rod) weighed on the same scale 498.95grams w/o rod bolts.Once the rod bolts are in it should weight almost identical.

** I beams that support 500+whp on D series and that the cost is still VERY attractive(under $300)

The next step after these are finished and produced is to create the Much acclaimed D15 rods

now that's a rod that will def. sell.

Not a lot of people make those!

I will also be bringing an I- beam for D16 that will work specifically for Vitara pistons..Bringing the piston up flush with the top of the sleeves and proviving more Compression on d16 engines (Around 9.1-9.3:1

glad to see you are using my idea from your post on Turbod16.com!! do i get any royalties? haha, joking. or maybe not!

Thats why i made that post, to hear ppl ideas and concerns about rods to be able to satisfy a specific market. I am trying to incorporate different ideas into these rods and other members also expressed their concern about raising the CR a lil bit.

OK, I'm an idiot.

I was reading the micrometer the wrong way.

The face of the rod that faces the crank pulley is .951".
The face of the rod that faces the dipstick is .607".

Right where the wrist pin goes thru:
1.104"
.717"

yeah i shyed away from the vitara setup simply due the the low compression.
so i ended up with SRP's and Eagles for $650 total. but it will be around 9.2:1 on my setup.

make those I beams asap. i can still return my srp/eagle setup and buy the Long I beam/vitara setup
and if they were about $400 total it would be a steal.

Coates Spherical Rotary Valves,

Imagine a head with no oiling syatem up top, no cam, and no timing belt. A timing chain with close to zero stress on it, and bearings in the valves and dry timing chain area that never need servicing. Chain replaced every 1 million miles or so... The bearing surfaces are a special teflon impregnated stuff... lasts forever.

Just by changing out the heads on a SBC, and removing the cam, they got +250HP!

When you first said rotary head, I thought you were talking abou rotary engine heads, like off a 13b or something.
Regardless, good luck selling a single one of those few thousand dollar heads to broke dick Honda guys when you can make over 500whp fairly easily on a stock b series vtec head and with some headwork make more power than ever necessary.
The main market for something like that would be for dedicated race cars and I'd bet that an aftermarket head like that wouldn't be legal for sfwd.
It's still cool tho

keep doing what your doing fjt, no matter what some people say. its silly that someone is knocking your idea when in fact they can only benefit from it in the future. the more budget oriented products that actually work that we can chose from the better! good luck

If that was directed towards me you need to re-read the thread and edit your post accordingly.
No one in the thread is knocking his idea, his idea has nothing to do with the random OT "rotary head" design that i was knocking, which wasn't even posted by him.
