D16 Eagle rods help

Can anyone that has a D16 Eagle/TT/SCAT rod take a measurement for me?

I need to know the H beam Beam width...How wide it is? In inches or milimeters.. Im doing a project and it is important that i know this measurement.

I know one side of the beam is 22.81mm or .898" but i need to know the measurement of the other side.

Please help.. Thanks.

I'm pulling my motor Sunday hopefully, thats the earliest I could get you a measurement. You are referring to the side that faces forward/rearward, right? Or the flat face that faces the flywheel/timing belt?

@19/32nds on the front to back of block side - @31/32nds for crank seal to rear main side. @2 29/32nds for the bottom crank side width. @1 5/32nds for the wrist pin side width. hope this helps. i did not have a mic at home, just a ruler. but i still have the rods out!

Measuring the Vertcial part of the "H" it is .922 in.

Measuring the Horizontal part of the "H" it is .607 in.

yeah its the flat face of the Beam that faces the flywheel..

mike93eh2 09-07-2007 07:08 PM

i thought you came out with your own rods and they were like way too big? lol

can we say overkill and unecessary?

fjt 09-07-2007 07:39 PM

They are being re designed as we speak.
Theyre big for D series but not for B series.

Thats part of why i need the measurement.

That was a sample rod..Yes theyre overkill for D series but for b series they will be fine.. These are for High Hp setups..lol the eagles look like a toy

eagle rods have been proven every day on high hp b series. why fix it if its not broke?

Re: (Got traction)

i put eagle h-beams in my d16 and just to make sure there was enough clearance, i removed some of the material around the bottom of the sleeve and top plate to make sure there was enough clearance. i have a video of the clearance, but dont have access to it right now.

True... But will you rather pay less from a rod that WILL handle more power than eagles w/o any added weight and without having to pay $500+ like other high hp rods from any other manufacturer?

How much does a High HP H beam rod cost from Manley/Pauter/Crower?

tell me that

BTW: the pic posted is a D series Eagle Rod (top) VS this company D series Rods(that for now i will keep it for me) .. Oviously for D series this rod is Massive and overkill, it handles waaaay more power than what can be attained on a D series engine... Thats why it needs to be modified to suit more the actual demand , but this same rod for B series its perfect.

Let me ask you something..in case of the D series..Would you pay $300 for eagles that handle 600whp..or would you pay $250 for a rod that will work the same or better than eagles and will handle 600+ whp?

THEDirtyDseriesWOOT 09-08-2007 08:18 PM

YOUR RODS are gonna ROCK my next build im sure to buy a set https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...es/emsmile.gif +100 to you man.. keep it up.. it wont be long and your gonna see some 600-700 whp d-series coming out of the works just gonna take money and guts to push it.. somone needs to make an aftermarket head like the domestic boys for the d then we can flow better than a stock b head and make the power we need

paulzy 09-08-2007 08:52 PM

the physical size of the rod only plays a small part of how strong it actually is.

Yeah, but it sure helps. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emsmilep.gif

Seriously though, i'm sure if he's going through all this trouble, he is going to make sure they are of the right kind of metal and properly forged.

Lol, yeah and it was only .922 x .607 inches... https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emsad.gif

so, if you're using the same material, then bigger can only be better!

FJT is gonna end up being the "baller on a budget" supplier for 2008. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif I've already gotten my pistons/rings from him. Maybe my next build will be completely suplied by him.

I would def. buy these rods for my next build, as long as someone uses them before me https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emsmilep.gif

Re: (93supercoupe)

yeah i wanna get a set for my sleeved d16z6 block

fjt 09-09-2007 05:20 PM

well gentlemen this is not a for sale post.. i would like to keep it technical..Price hasnt been established yet as it depends on many factors but they wont cost more than Eagles..

The rods will be modified for D16 engine since right now its huge and it will require more notching than eagles..So it will be modified to be close to Eagles spec but handling more power at a cheaper price..They will probably lighter than eagles too...Right now, as fat as it looks, they weight the same as the smaller Eagle rod so even though they are fatter there is no extra weight for the rotation assembly.

I will also be bringing an I- beam for D16 that will work specifically for Vitara pistons..Bringing the piston up flush with the top of the sleeves and proviving more Compression on d16 engines (Around 9.1-9.3:1

pretty neat huh?

Re: (THEDirtyDseriesWOOT)

Speaking of aftermarket heads I am in the works to see how much it would cost to have a set of rotary heads R&D'd for hondas... I would own that corner in the market if I did..

Right now I am just working on building up a venture presentation to find finantial backers.... currently am gathering as much info about the honda aftermarket parts sales as I can; helps to have actual #'s to throw at backers.

what? did you just say you're trying to find a way to put a rotary head on a honda?
