D15B Vtec turbo?
I am getting a D15B swapped in in a few months, and i am just trying to plan what i wanna do before i actually get it. My question is that i have heard bad things about the d15's handling boost and the d16's being able too. Now ive read that the D15B vtec is pretty much like a Z6 w/a VX bottom end? COuld the JDM D15b vtec handle 8 pounds of boost safely wothout the threat of throwing a rod? And if it matters it would be a homeade kit. All advice is appreciated

Re: D15B Vtec turbo? (brockscivic)
I think it uses the same crank as VX block but stronger rods, so I don't think it will throw a rod. People say it's strong and should run good, and possibly put out more power the z6 because of it's cam. There aren't many of them turboed just because not too many people have them period.

Go ahead and turbo it. Who cares if it blows? Dsereis motors are a dime a dozen. Just tune it good and keep the boost reasonable and you will be fine.

Go for it....mine works great....this fall you should be seeing some stock internal dyno sheets with 200+whp once it is tuned.

i just got a kit for my d15b but for some reason my vtec is being shitty and doesn't want to work. I am going to check it out tomorrow though. I can't wait to boost

heh, dude he doesnt come around anymore,
or at least he doesnt post.
also I think that was his 3rd d15bvtec on that setup.
he was running 13's on an FMU
its not boost but power that kills the rods..
just keep it under lik 180whp tune it right and it should probly be pretty durrn reliable..
180whp is PLENTY
