Default D series Turbo Setup!

OK so i got my T-3 turbo for my D16A6 in a 89 CRX Si. Now I neeed a nice looking intercooler. What kind should I get that is fairly cheap? Also I need to figure out how to back off the boost on the turbo to 5 psi. Thats what the boost controller is for right? And I got a boost gauge and Air/fuel and eXhuast temp gauge. I will be using no engine managment so i want low PSi nimbers

How much HP should a D16A6 Turbo at 5psi of intercooled air make

starion intercooler def. if you want a good cheap intercooler, as for keeping the boost to only 5psi, you could find a wastegate set at that psi level, instead of the boost controller. basically a boost contoller such as the greddy profec b, trick the wastegate into thinking its reached its set boost level, for instance if you have a 7.3psi spring in your wastegate and you want to run 10psi, you set the controller to 10 and when it reaches 10 the wastegate valve opens thinking it is at 7.3 psi. As far as i know you couldn't run a boost controller without a wastegate.

depending on what your wg actuator is set at you won't be able to DROP boost with a boost controller. For example, if the actuator is set at 14psi, then 14psi is where u'll stay.

You'll need to find a 5psi actuator or mod the actuator arm to lower boost. There are instructions how to do that mod to be found in the search function.

Starion IC's are imho the best bang for the buck but they can take time and extra money to prep for a honda retrofit. They can be had for $75-$100 easily on ebay, the DSM classifieds, and thepartstrader.com (just be careful on that site, it has its share of bad bad people)
