Default custom downpipe

has anyone had one made if so how did it work out? Correct me if im wrong but you can just buy a turbine housing discharge flange and take it to a muffler shop and get a custome peice bent up into shape right? Sorry if it is a silly question to some but im kinda new to all this FI stuff, but damnit if it isnt fun TIA

it is more difficult than you think....and most muffler shop will less likely to have the knowledge or ability to do so..
you have to think about the clearance with AC compressor and not to mention a litlle angle so it won;t hit the oil pan, but high enough to clear the ground...

most of the T3 turbine flange are a 2.5" and you'll need this and still retain your AC. you can flare it to 3" after it clear the AC...

but my best suggestion is to just find a used one, it'll save you a lot of headaches

Also, most DP bend down immediately after the flange, so you'll need to be very creative to put the lowest bolt for the flange but still giv eyou enough clearance to work with the bottom bolt

Drag has a smart way of doing it, but PITA

do you already have everything else and you just shorted a downpipe ?

if so, just look thru classifeds or partstrader...if not tell me what you have, I can see if I can find one around here...

I dont have every thing yet, but im just trying to get as much research down as i can. It will be a t3 and i want to run an external wastegate (obviously) and retain my a/c. So i think i will try partstrader.com and see what i come up with. Thanks agian. OH allso can you just buy them seprate/new from any one? If it is quite tricky like you say i may want to just go with a new one. What do you think?

Thanks

you may be able to buy a new ones separate from the kit

BTW, manifold design determine the right downpipe, what kind of manifold do you have ? you can almost fabricate any downpipe to fit any manifold, but try not put yourself to do that...PITA

Havent bought it yet but i have a good deal on a drag manifold. Allso the manifold might place the turbo is a different positon from mani to mani right? thats why you mentioned? Allso i wonder how hard it would be to fabricate it my self from the flange and some creative pipe bending? Oh well i guess i will figure that all out. What downpipe are you running? oh yeah i dont wana sound dumb but whats PITA?
