I'm still waiting on a B18C engine.. but the guy who's doing my car said that he can drop in a CRVTEC right now if I wanted it. Problem is, I don't have enough money now for pistons/rods, so I was just curious as to how much boost could be handled by a stock b20b block with b16a head..
ok, first off the wastegate on the ls kits ive seen are 8 p.s.i so listen to the companys sellin the kits. get more fuel and shot pein the rods and then you should be fine to you build the block.

will the valve clearance be ok with stock b20 pistons and vtec valves? I thought it was different than the LS/VTEC where you can still use stock pistons

Anyone have any opinions on that 8-10psi? I have ordered some 550cc RC injectors already, and am using an IHI RHF5 ballbearing turbo.. a link to my turbo maps can be found here http://ihi-turbo.com/turbo_RHE-RHF.htm Much help would be appreciated

8-10 psi should be fine but you really cant rev it like a gsr. I wouldnt take it past 8000rpm.
I also would check the piston to valve clearance as well to make sure you are in spec incase your GSR head was milled etc.

the b20 bottom has a different cylinder walls then the b16 and b18, its composed of different materials. its slightly stronger and if i remember correclty slightly thicker. so it should by theory in its stock form be able to handle a few more PSI then its smaller counterparts.

Actually, the cylinder walls are THICKER then the B18B engine. I had my LS block next to the CRV block, and the difference is pretty big. The walls are thicker, but the water jacket is a lot smaller.
Yeah, the CRV block definatly has thicker/stronger sleeves. Its not just a bored LS. The rods are pretty much identical to LS rods, which people seem to be able to push a lot of boost on.
If you have a standalone and are not worried about detonation, then i would not hesitate to push 10psi. But, thats just me

I'm a newbie, what is a standalone?
