limitations.
OK let me start by saying that I have been researching but I just wanted to open a thread about this (i've been here for years despite my 2002 join date)
I'm mostly looking for advice recomendations and what not in this thread.
My set-up will be as follows.
b18c
9.5:1 - 10.0:1 compression
je pistons
crower/eagle rods
head will be stock except for titanium retainers (need reatainers for the head I'm putting on)
My turbo is a garrett t3t40E .57 trim .63 A/R
tuned with hondata, 756cc injectors,255lph pump and msd 6-al for spark.
I had this turbo and tuning on my b16a and made 248whp @9psi.
I'm looking to make 400-450whp on the built 1.8ltr block. Should I upgrade the turbo or do you think that it will be fine? I plan to keep stock sleeves unless it's unanimous that I need to sleeve the block. I would love to sleeve the block, but if my goal is attainable on stock sleeves I would like to do it. Or keep this turbo and use that money to sleeve the block instead of upgrading...
Basically where I'm stuck is that in order for me to meet my goal of 450whp it's going to take 20+psi of boost and I hear a lot of people saying that the cylinder pressure will be to high for stock sleeves.I know I can reach this goal on less psi with a larger turbo, but whats the best route to reach this goal in your oppinion? I appreciate any and all advice thats given. Stock engines and turbo I have done, built engines I'm new to. thanks to all.

If you havn't built it yet, run lower compression. No higher than 9:1. It's possible to make that on a 10:1 setup but it is much more finicky. On stock sleeves don't even chance it, it's not worth it. The slightest bit of detonation at 450+ WHP on stock sleeves will probably crack them.
bump for a local WA-boy. Send it all to earl, have him sleeve it and slap in some Pauter rods and CP pistons w/ACL bearings. personally stock bore is nice because head gaskets are easier to get. As for tuning, you are lucky you live in the NW because Cresent from c-speedracing.com lives in Bellingham and is a magician with Hondata. email me if you want his info
