Compression test engine out of car?
How can I compression test a motor that is currently out of the car and has no tranny on it? I have tried turning it over by hand.. but the numbers are consistenly very low (90-100).. An air hammer will not turn the motor over either.. is there an easy way to do this?
Thanks!
Thanks!

How can I do a leakdown on the motor? It is currently on an engine stand and we do have air tools. TIA.

Re: Compression test engine out of car? (spike)
Ha, thats normal dude, when I got my B18c swap it was on the garage floor, no idea when it ran last, the compression numbers were all bellow 100psi, right around yours I'd say, now its up and running and the compression went up to 235psi on all cilinders. You will not get good numbers, not because you are not turning it fast enough, but because the motor is cold. It sounds like a healthy motor to me.

If it has the tranny on it still, you can hook up a battery and a manual starter to turn the motor over. If it doesn't, then a leakdown is a much better option.
