Default compression test?

is it possible to check the compression with the compression tester on a motor when the motor is out of the car?..im buying a b18c engine and just wanted to make sure it was good

u need the be able to start the car to build compression.... well not exactly start it but it might as well have it in

Umm...your engine should not start for a compression test.

All you need to do is get the motor to spin. People start motors all the time out of cars, so I'm sure you can do this.
