leakdown vs. compression test: which one is more accurate toward motor health??
alright, had a conversation wiht a friend about this topic tonight regarding my motor.
sleeved lsvtec, my compression is 180/168/180/180 done at wot on a warm engine.
if i pressurize my cyls at tdc, they will leak out within a minute, from what sounds like past the rings into the oil pan, however i cant feel or notice any air coming out of either the dipstick hole/valvecover breather/ catchcan.
car seemed to make ok power (about 260whp on 7 psi wiht a bad turbo and a conservative quick tune)...any way for me to be sure that im not having issues?? the build has about 4500 miles

Since the compression seem ok to me, the leak seems like it could be coming from somewhere else. Check the intake, exhaust when doing the leak down test, try to elimate though then work your way to the problem. Also i've always done compression tests on a cold motor. Give that a shot.

i feel my compression on a cold motor would be much less, as nothing has expaned yet...
