Cheapest pistons that still outperform oem?

Cheapest pistons that still outperform oem?
Sorry if this question got asked before, I didn't find anything I was looking for from the archived.
I'm building this motor for a friend and he's on a really tight budget. I'm really tempting to use oem pistons but since it's not my engine, I'm trying to make it a bit more reliable while still staying within budget.
This is for a stock ls motor and maximum boost will be around 10lb. Anything in between 9:1 to 10:1 would be great. Thanks for your help!

Does the USDM type R piston offer any higher strength from the regular ones. I know that they're coated, but don't know if they're any stronger. Of course, I'll be using a thicker headgasket.

Yeah as long as the tuning is good stock ls pistons wil be fine @ 10 psi. As far a as a cheap piston i beleive SRP's are pretty cheap .

SRP is a good cheap piston. I've heard however that because of their silicone content (too much or too little?) that they weren't ideal for boosting, or at least not too much boost anyways.
FWIW, the stock LS piston with a good tune should be sufficient for a street car

I wouldn't consider that hijacking, your only trying to help. $300 thats a good price

I'll check with my friend to see if he's willing to spend any extra $$$.
Also, would coating the piston dome with ceramics offer any heat protection or is it just a waste of money.

That's a good price for a new set of piston, I think SRP would have a better strength than OEM. Considering casted versus forged design.
