hey guys I was at home depot the other night and was in the plumbing department to get some 1/8" fittings so I can add my autometer oil pressure sending unit and still have my stock one too.

anyway, noticed while I was there that they've got all kinds of braided steel lines like 3ft, 6ft, etc that look just like my greddy feed line...

just kinda curious if I'd have any problems using one of these as I was kinda wanting to route my oil feed line in another direction around the engine to make it look cleaner and the greddy one isn't long enough to do that but one of those 6ft lines would be great. I mean it IS braided steel line and is designed for pressure anyway (water pressure but pressure non-the-less). Just kinda curious is all.

there is a reason why they called it Home Depot.

it is designed to hold hot water, but nothing compare to hot burnign oil at high pressure.

think about it like this. I sell my feed line kit for about 55 bucks, for 55 bucks you can have a peace of mind that it will not leak, fail and destroy your turbo OR Your MOTOR. I have had guys who tried to go cheap, ended up ruining their motor becasue they cracked the back of the block misthreading it, then in the end, they come back to me. For a mere a few bucks you can buy a BSPT to NPT adapter to where it will not de-threads the block.

so is it worth 55 bucks ?

ok, but irregardless of people stripping the threads I don't see what the difference is honestly. Looks to be the same rubber hose core with steel braids on the outside to me.

I was mainly just curious if anyone HAS done this and what happened with it? I mean if somebody else did it and doesn't have any probs then I wouldn't mind rerouting but if it won't work then I'll just stick with my greddy line.

I mean hell, if radiator hose is good enough for charge pipe connectors and if people use fuel hose for vacuum hose and if people make manual boost controllers out of grainger valves and if people turn hf manifolds into turbo manifolds whats to have stopped someone from trying this in the past??

after all the center hose does have a threaded core just like on the greddy turbo feed line and it's sautered pressure connections on the ends...

just curious though, not a priority on my to-do list

-3AN lines are teflon coated on the inner lining. Home depot are prolly uncoated, again they are designed to run water through it, unless it is specified that it is teflon coated, which I doubt very much.
