Carbon fiber hoods and turbos, will heat melt my hood?
Will heat from the manifold melt a hole through my hood? Is there anything I can do to prevent this?

Probably not. Carbon fiber is tough stuff. If you're concerned you can get some adhesive heat barrier and apply it to the underside of the hood just above the manifold.

I dont think it would melt it but it will probably make your clear coat dull... i dont have any experience with this though & just speculating.

no it will not melt for definite, I'm positive.
It may, start to discolor, or fade the clear coat prematurley but hey, the sun will ruin your carbon fiber hood before the engine heat will.
If your concerned, DEI exhaust tunnel shield, 20X21 for $22.00.
This is similar to stuff found under hoods of VW's and on their firewall for heat relfection. I have some on my OEM hood, I can put my hand on the hood above the turbo/mani after hard pulls and its only warm.
ps...tweekerz, that girl in your avatar is damn cute.....is she your G/F?

Thanks for the reply guys. If there is any potential that heat will discolor or damage my brand new hood, I'd like to do something about it. What do you guys thing about the reflective adhesive on the hood? Do you know where I can get that stuff?

Re: Carbon fiber hoods and turbos, will heat melt my hood? (Spicoli v 3.0)
I never had a problem. I had both a turbo and CF hood on for about a year, daily driven, without any problems.

I don't have any issues, the clear is still fine after about a year and a half. Only weird thing is, when I put wax on, it hazes really weird over where the manifold sits, and you really need to wipe it away good. Other than that, function>form. Got the weight savings and it doesn't warp the factory paint

Re: Carbon fiber hoods and turbos, will heat melt my hood? (eg:R)
My friends has a DA with a Full-Race top mount, his hood will not close if you open it and then close it after driving the car. The heat kinda warps the carbon fiber I guess. After it cools down, it closes fine. It doesn't MELT so I would say no.

Yeah I second a link for that shield. The girl in my avatar is an asian singer named Lee Hyori.
