i have a 2000 turbo civic si b16a with drag kit, just finished install . running ok past couple of days. i was driving on the highway and i noticed my lights were getting dimmer until the car just died. also noticed speedometer wasn't working. what could the problem be? i've had check engine light on and checked it. it was code 41 and 65, which are my sensors but i don't think it has anything to do with this problem. it must be alternator but it's a new car with only 15000miles. please if anyone can help me, i'd appreciate it.

 

make sure all the grounds are in tact.

 

you think it can be just a bad ground. i messed around with the 02 sensor wires can that be the problem

 

I heard through the grapevine from my close friend at Honda that some of the '99-'00 Si's had alternator problems. I'm pretty sure its not a recall, so I'm screwed as they won't warranty anything on the car any longer (wonder why...). I'd take the car somewhere for an electrical diagnostics test, have them check the alternator... HTH, EV.

 

code 41 is the primary o2 sensor...mines went out and I drove it for a while like that..nothing bad happened..know that when ur o2 is out, youll get smoking...and you'll be running more rich than usual...it MIGHT be your alternator..but check your distributor cap, rotor, and spark plugs/wires...that can be the problem also...but then again...also make sure that your ground battery is hooked up..haha...

 

why don't you just take it to TAPP and let him figure it out?

 

by the way i also had a code 15 3 days ago but went away do u think my ingnition system screw up something to my alternater

 

oh my god i feel stupid hahahahaha it was my alternater fuse what a relief the only thing i did not think of .anyways thanks for the help
