1999 Civic SI Battery/Alternator/Wiring problem PLEASE HELP!
Hey Everyone, I recently bought this SI. I had it towed to my house. When you jumpstart the car it will start with no problem with the cables on. Once you take the jumper cables off, the car will stay on for about 1-2 minutes (depending on how long you left the cables on) and then it will die/shutoff. I had some mechanics who told me the alternator is bad, so then I replaced it. It still does the same thing!
This car has been stolen before, it had aftermarket car alarm and stereo that were ripped out. When I took off the trim under the driver dash, there was a mess of wires.. I'm not even sure what goes to what.. I'm thinking there's a problem somewhere in that mess...
I'm just mad I spent $150 on a brand new alt. + $50 for installation and it wasn't even that problem! stupid mechanics.
Can someone PLEASE help me? I'm trying to bring this car back to life... I hate people to vandelize cars, this was once a show car from last owner until it got stripped.
Please help!! thank you!

Re: 1999 Civic SI Battery/Alternator/Wiring problem PLEASE HELP! (SiYouLater)
yeah, battery was bought brand new about 1 month ago. But it got drained by the alternator.. I am returning it and buying an optima tomorrow. But the alternator should keep the battery charging when it gets started..I'm just scared that if i get a new battery, it will probably get bad soon too.
