If you look closely, the bearing isn't sitting tight in the rod cap. It has shrinked a lot! The new bearing sits really tight like supposed to

And here's the good bearing sitting in the same rod cap.

Anyways, I'm done now. Assembled everything back. Started the car and let it run for 20 mins. With the front wheel lifted of the ground, I put in 1st gear and reved it up to 6-7k rpms slowly and no knock. Let's see how long this lasts. I didn't drive the car yet but will in a little bit and will report

I wouldn't be surprised if it lasted for a bit.

Waiting for an update.

Didn't check for clearance. It's like all the other rods. I just did this As a bandaid. I'll put in another cranks with a new rod and different pistons.

You really should have checked it. Theres a chance its too tight by a hair and instead of saving it, its trashed.

And how did you go about cleaning all the metal debris from the engine and pan and oil pickup? It took me 2 hours to clean out my pan and pickup enough to get all the flakes out. The flakes hide inside them really good. I filled the pickup with seafoam and thought a few flakes was all that was there and wound up pouring out a big pile of metal

I really don't see how it can be tigher? If there are clearance issues than it would be more space than needed because I'm using standard bearing on that rod.

I just washed the oil pick up tube and kinda tapped all the flakes out. And washed the oil pan and wiped it good with a towel.

I think my bearing went out because a week ago I was adding oil and forgot to ur the dip stick back in. Next day i noticed my oil pressure was low and took a look and the engine bay was full of oil

I think you caught it just in time and this motor may be saved for a long while to come.

If you have the extra $10 a strong magnet to the bottom of the oil pan or a magnetic drain plug would be money well spent

Good work, hope it holds up for you

Thanks! We're Do they sell metal drain plugs? I'm sure I have flakes from the bearing still in the bottom.

Leme see if i am thinking the same as op here for a sec.

You think your tune is spot on correct?

You think the bearing spun because you started it with no oil for a bit, correct?

You had the whole bottom of the engine taken apart. Downpipe oil pan, windage tray etc

You think running the motor with no oil will only ruin one bearing out of the 9 the motor has?

Instead of repairing the motor the correct way you slapped the bearing in and called it a day.

Not for one second did it cross your mind " hey since im already down here i might as well check the rest of these bearings"???

I should have checked all the bearings. I'll pull everything off this weekend after I drive it got a day and see how it is. It takes 40 mins to get to them, no problem. I cleaned all the metal shaving off the engine.

Wow, you are so funny.
Where do you think the metal shavings go? They go to all the bearings since there is no way the oil filter will catch everything. You see, when the oil is cold and or when the engine turns high rpm, the oil filter internal bypass opens up thus letting the metal shavings grind at the bearings, camshaft and the TURBO. But it's good entertainment...

Now I know, thanks for letting me know. I cleaned it all out from what I've seen.
