Budget 500whp build
I decided to post up my build for others to take ideas from or just criticize. I did the tuning and engine building aside from the machine work and setting up the bearings. I pushed 215whp on the motor with same internals except supertech pistons @ 12.5 c/r.
Block
-GSR block GE sleeved 84.5mm plugged oil squirters
-LS crank micropolished & balanced
-Eagle H-beem Rods
-Wiseco flat top 10.5 c/r
Head
-Street ported 2000 Si b16 head
-3 angle valve job with all new guides & seals
-Supertech Ti retainers & springs
-Blox b cams
Bolt-ons
-3" mandrel bends exhaust & 3" downpipe v-band
-Skunk2 Ultra street with 68mm throttle body
-Ramhorn made by B-Werks T3 flange
Turbo Setup
-DNA motoring GT35 .82 trim 68mm exhaust
-44mm wastegate with 8lb spring
-Godspeed 30x12x3 intercooler 3" in/out
-3" charge piping custom fabbed
Tuned using Neptune on ID1000 injectors @ 78psi on E85
@ Dyno
370whp at 8lbs
494whp at 16lbs
23x8x13 M&H slicks
@ Track on 8lbs
7.41 sec 1/8 mile @ 98mph 1.71 sec 60'
Couldn't hook on 16lbs in 1st & 2nd gear. Would have needed more practice and tuning maybe 24.5 slicks.

Re: Budget 500whp build
You have an odd definition of budget lol.
Although personally, after spending that much money on the motor I couldn't in good conscience run eBay turbo parts. But that's me.

Re: Budget 500whp build
If I was planning on keeping the car long term I wouldn't have gone that route. Due to it being a short term build the eBay turbo worked out great for me. Sometimes how you piece it together matters more than the brand names on the parts. The turbo survived 30 dyno pulls 2 times to the track and numerous joy rides With no smoke. I might go a different route if I were to redo the build though.

Re: Budget 500whp build
Turns out this was a timing issue down low I later solved. This low rpm stumble was an issue I had never encountered on 91. Tuning the car on e85 at 3 boost levels combined with an ignition problem I had early on proved to be a challenge. This was also my first time tuning a turbo car on the dyno.
