I dont know, but that is what I've heard and read. But I have not understood why they are illegal.

I am pretty sure its because you are releasing the potentially polluted air into the atmosphere. Most stock turbo cars have some sort of BOV that recirculates instead of releasing into the air immediately.

That has more to do with noise and air/fuel issues with mass air setups than it does with emissions.
I don't see how a BOV could vent any harmful emissions to the atmosphere...It's just compressed air. Maybe if the seal in the compressor is shot and leaking oil into the intake.

bov's do not release polluted air unless you have a busted oil seal or a faulty PCV system that isnt recycling crank case vapors. but a cop isnt going to pull you over and check your PCV system routing or your turbo seals...

That is what I mostly heard, and here in Maryland I dont hear to many BOV's
, but I hear alot of them when I go other places.
So if it puts polluted air into the atmosphere would you have to take your BOV off when you go for an emission test?

They arent illegal in MD. What are you talking about? All you hear around here is Subarus and Evo's all day long. haha. And there is plenty of other turbo cars around too.
who cares? Cops arent gonna check for that. Open downpipe isn't legal around VA, but i rock it anyways
Even though i'm paranoid as **** about getting pulled for it
