Bore Size & Boost
I recently purchased a b18a block bored to 85.5mm and was told that that could be too large to boost high, something about the sleeves being too close together. Just thought I would gain some other people's opinions or facts.
that is a pretty big bore to boost on........it would probably be ok if you tune it right and make sure you get NO dentonation at all.....and maybe not crank up the boost that much. the cylinder thickness is kinda thin with that big of a bore.
also good luck finding 85.5mm pistons without paying for some expensive custom peices......

So what psi am i going to be limited to because of this, the sleeves are jg and also has the block gaurd as well. Don't know if any of this is a factor for how much I can boost but...
30#'s with no detonation or 4#'s with detonation..
Its just the fact that you don't have much sealing area. Its not the pounds of boost its the pounds of cylinder pressure which gets insane with detonation.

mine is 86mm, my tunner said that it will be fine seeing that its a custom sleeve made to be 86-88mm, I am no expert but I will let you know how things go.
I wonder if I should sell this block and buy a different one then. I was looking to boost around 22 while at the track but that seems like a bad idea. So what would you reccomend I do?

You'd have HG issues with 85.5MM, we did on a friends B16. Sad part is he had it sleeved at 85.5 outright and the motor was unuseable for boost. Even if you could get the HG's to stay on it, I think you would see the cylinders go out of round in short order. Stock sleeves with a good tune rock
