Cool graph. How far are you planning on pushing the 5858?

After the fun last night I dropped the wastegate spring to 5psi and tuned a bit today.

I need an exhaust on the car still.

Any advise for an EK hatch? Any comments on the 76mm Skunk2 exhaust?

Very nice, but the muffler is a little corny from an aesthetic perspective. It has a resonator included, but I think that they are still a bit loud.

Wonderfully deep. Sounds fantastic. The older versions used to have their baffling destroyed in about a year after you used it, but they've improved immensely. I would pick the Thermal over the Skunk2.

Its a pipe to divert the exhaust out the back of the car, I'll post a review rather than directly passing judgment. These "Top Speed" exhausts got really good reviews in the Evo/STI world, and I've had my $800 exhausts already and I'm over that.

My friend has a "top speed" 3" ebay N1 style exhaust on his STI and it sounds and looks good, has mandrel bends and hasn't rusted at all over the last year or so. The only negative we've encountered is the bad gaskets that came with the kit eventually cracked and blew out. If you get some better gaskets you should be good to go.

I'm not looking at this from an "eBay vs. XX" perspective. I'm looking at this from the varied amount of resources available to get the better materials. As an owner of the Evolution IX, I know about these exhausts, and about 2 years is about as far as the top speed goes. now, perhaps I'm naive because I tend to keep my vehicles for longer periods of time, but the investment for the proper equipment to me has longer value than the Top Speed ones that i've seen utilized. yes, custom exhausts can be expensive. But (depending upon use, and abuse) I find no reason to resort to these exhaust systems.

But give it a shot.. After all, this is your project in the end, and my opinion, is just that; an opinion.

Any tips on how to make an exhaust as quiet as factory, because i put a cutom VRS 3" exhaust on mine with a solo performance OE92 muffler and a 24" long dynomax race bullet and a 12" catco cat, and it sounds like this ungodly mess and is giving me migraines. lol Ive been looking at different cats as thats the only area i can think of changing since i cant pass emissions anyway without a air gap pipe, so thats all gotta be changed.

Your solo performance muffler has no BAFFLES in it, which is why it sounds like THAT, in addition to a race bullet resonator. The thermal R&D and 3" Apex'i world sport turbo mufflers are properly baffled to make it much much quieter than that. It will never be factory quiet 3" like that on a turbo car, so get that out of your head now. But a different muffler.

Here's my Straight 3" N1 muffler with no resonator or catalytic converter.

And no.. there was no aftermarket cam in the car at the time. Just OEM CTR camshafts.

well, i had a 2.5" exhaust prior with a magnaflow 18" res, same cat, and a oem type r muffler that dropped down to 2.25 at the axle back, and it was quiet for the most part, but it sounded like **** going down the track, i mean straight up explosive diarrhea noise coming from the back of the car, but interior resonance was non existent. The only thing i can think of doing without ditching the muffler and only being dissapointed again is change the mid section, ditch the race bullet and go with a QR resonator from solo, which has baffles and fiberglass, and a 16" catco cat with the airgap pipe i need.

I have the Sk2 Mega power R(2.75inch) on my N/A stock cam GSR. And i love the sound and the looks. I was VERY pleased on its first start up after installing (at the time) my new RMF narrow reps, 2.5 test pipe, and the mega power R. very pleased. I plan on going turbo in the probably not to close future(lol), when i do i plan on switching to the mega power RR after having my R for almost 2 years now.

When my money is right i plan on using that same turbo, everything i hear about it makes me want it more, i've dug up as many graphs as i can on it and love everything i see(mostly evo graphs not many hondas graphs out there with that turbo). Planning on going for 500Whp as a HP goal, then i plan on turning down the boost and running boost by gear with my S300 to set it up proper for street traction. I'm thinking itll prob sit around 400-450ish all said and done 4th gear, all depends on traction.

After reading this thread its making me a little unsure about my cam decision. I recently purchased a set of Sk2 Pro1's off a forum member for a very good price(BNIB). Maybe to big for my set-up? I plan on running 84mm with mid to high 9's compression. It going to be a slow process i dont make that much money so im saving everything i can, but my plan is....Buy all head components (already have cams) Sk2 pro springs/retainers,bronze guides, send out 2 PnP and valve job and freshin it up. Run the head on my stock GSR block, until funds come in to build the block, save to build block and send it out, then reassemble with my built head, run that N/a still to break it in and to continue to save money for the turbo kit. Then finally one day throw the kit on.

sorry for the wall of text, bored at work haha....

But build looks great and cant wait to see your graph, much luck to you.

p.s for the Sk2 exhausts. (personal opinion)
