Default boost gauge question....

where do your boost gauges sit when the car is turned off? My gauge I just got was sitting at 5psi, but when the car is turned on it goes into vacuum like it should, but then when i turn the car off it goes back to 5psi. Anybody elses do this? Is my guage messed up? Its autometer.
