autometer boost gauge, how accurate?
I had an Autometer boost gauge that read about 4 in Hg (vacuum) while the car was off, in boost it read about 5.5 psi. I got a new gauge and it read 8 psi while in boost, so the first on seems to have been off becuase the new one reads 0 with the car off. I don't know how much I trust Autometer. By the way both of these gauges were brand new.
Wouldn't the accuracy of the gauge depend on whether it's a mechanical gauge or an electric gauge? Aren't electric gauges alot more accurate? (and expensive!)
some people who have mechanical swear that theyre good...some people say that electrical are alot more accurate...i dont know. but yes, HUGE price difference.
My Autometer doesn't seem to give me any problems. It shows 0 when the car is off.....and when boosting, it matches my friend's OBD program on his laptop. So I guess it's okay.
Lucky me, I don't have extra $$ to go spending. Damn turbo!

My Autometer used to register 1psi too high... now it seemed to *fix* itself, but I use my AVC-R's built-in boost meter instead.
Autometer has a new 2 1/16" electronic boost gauge now... reads vac/boost to 15psi. I hope to get one of those instead...
