Default boost creeppp uh oh!! help

I have a 38 mm tial WG, with a drag 3 manifold. The spring is set for 7.25 psi. It was boosting at 7.25 psi no matter what for about a month now. All of the sudden I noticed last week that it started boosting at around 8 psi. Then I noticed it was back to 7.25 psi on some days after I noticed it going 8 psi. Then one time if I take it through 2nd gear slowly, build boost, then floor it, it kinda spikes to 8.5 or 9 and holds. TODAY. It went to 10 psi, held it through 2nd gear, I shifted third and it dropped down to 8.5-9 psi. TONIGHT after work...its cold as hell here in MD...I went from 1-2-3 gears and it boosted about 10 psi the whole time, and my damn EGT gauge is going whacko, and I have no wideband. But the EGT was working at the moment, and it read about 1400 degrees...when it usually read closer to 1500 at 7.25 psi.

Anyway. Why do you think the sudden change? Is the diaphram or the spring going bad in the wastegate?

I also had an exhaust leak around the wastegate and fixed that, and then I noticed a slight change in boost level but now its as extreme as 10 psi!?!?

Is the cold weather significant?

Is the manifold just a piece of crap that everyone says it is?

check all vacuum lines..I would unplug and replug them. And then use some zipties to tighten up the connection. Any leaks can cause you to creep a little.

it's the cold weather. all my friends have this problem lately. tonight my friends sohc with t3/t4 was boosting about 9psi instead of 7, its like 30degrees here, revhard mani and turbosmart wastegate. denser air ***** things up and makes **** faster lol

agree that the problem is likely to be the cold weather...

should I worry about blowing my motor or what? Its not tuned...but running on a very conservative basemap, uberdata. The map is for 8 psi. Its hitting 10 at some points...no detonation or anything though.

yea cold weather would be my answer too...

keep checking the plugs, listen for detonation, and see if you can get a wideband on it when its cold outside

I live in minnesota and that's why I'm going to tune my setup at night when it's the coldest and rather run a little richer when it's warm than blow my motor some cold night in the middle of nowhere.

well I'm running 120% fuel effeciency and pulling .9 degrees of timing per PSI...I think thats pretty damn conservative. I'll check the plugs in the morning if I get a chance, last thing I did was go 1-3 gear at 10 psi before I pulled in the driveway.

Just a word of advice, I'd get it tuned on a dyno before you start pulling any more 10 psi runs. Unless you got plenty of time and money, in that case, enjoy!
