I was racing a old school turbo RX7 and a new accord spraying. Caught them from behind, passed them both, and that motor just died and never started again. 13psi, no tuning , #3 cracked sleeve.
So this time its a real deal re-build. Sleeves, pistons, rods, and most importantly STAND-ALONE!

so the question arises:

can a perfectly tuned (and oiled) motor still spin a rod bearing? and why is "overrevving" one cause of a spun rod bearing when these motors have been known to be prepped (new valvetrain, etc..) to spin as much as 10,000RPM's?

is it the limitation of the stock bearings? are ACL bearings any better at preventing a spun bearing? i'm still kinda confused on this subject..

I cracked ringlands on #3 and #4 in April of this year. Took 6 months to get it together because of no ends and freakin national backorder on engine bearings.

I was racing a car did 120+mph (I am stupid for this) and she gave it all she could at 11-12 pounds in 5th gear. My hood popped open at 120 mph and she just felt sluggish. I was able to drive her for a week before I left her at my friend's garage.

I lasted 20,000 miles on a FMU 12:1 (Drag gen 3) setup with over 10+ race events and countless highway and street battles. She held up pretty good considering all the abuse man. My car club was taking side bets on me blowing my motor in the first 3 months! HAH I laugh at them! Boosted 2 years *****!! hehehe

Fig 1. Broken timing belt at 8500 RPM from over torqued cam caps = holes in #3 piston, bent rod, and scarred block, head was trash.

Fig 2 and 3. 11 PSI with an 8:1 FMU and a stock piston'ed bottom end lasted for about 3 hours of "tuning". Car sounded great, no detonation we could hear, but EGT's apparently were getting too high. Melted #1 and #2. Yes those are LS pistons that were in a B16a... See the valve clearance problems on the reliefs? Don't use unmodified LS pistons with a VTEC head!

Blew my engine about 2 months ago. **** poor tuning killed my engine and i've even GOT a standalone. Funny thing is that after 8 montths of weekend warrioring it never even complained. After I got an FJO wideband and started tuning the car the way it should have been tuned in the first place... I got all the N/A and Boost columns dailed in to the maximum power making AFR......and then the engine let go. I lost 1/2 compression on #1 clyinder. Pulled the head, noticed some scoring on that cylinder, dissassembled the block, pulled the #1 cylidner piston and 1/2 the ring land fell off the piston......ugh

BLew the ring landings and cracked two pistons. Rods and sleeves were fine. Had a boost spike due to improper plumbing of the wastegate(not my fault). Block must have seen upwards of 25+ psi..Make sure you dont boost over 12psi on a stock honda map sensor, what happens is after 12psi the ecu just continues to add timing and not enough fuel=detination..I think thats how it works I may have that opposite..

First car, 95 Civic EX equipped with all the ricer goodies and a cool intake and exhaust...drove the car to death, shot the rod through the block. Good thing D16Z6s are only like 400 bucks. HAHA

<--Walks out to his car calmly. Pops the hood, checks the dipstick; then proceeds to remove anything on the car that has anything to do with turbo...

This thread is making me scardedded. 8psi, w/ DSM 450's and untuned. Hope I can make it until Friday when I get tuning...

sorry about the HUGE pic, that's just how my server makes it come up, but here is what a fulty AEM bypass valve wil do to an intake valve, look at the one on the righ, if you look, you can see a good size portion of it missing.
