blowing off as it spools
ive been having this strange problem with my b18 t3t4 setup
pretty familiar with turbo setups and the principals involved this problem has me stumped.
i have the bov setup right before the throttlebody so when it opens its clear and distinct sequential purge coming from the passanger side
BUT
recently in the nice cold weather we have my turbo has b een over spooling a little then out of no where it started blowing off as i would rev up.
understand there is a difference between dumping through gears racing, it revs spools blows and works absoutly flawless but lets say im cruzing along at 60mph in 5th gear
pulling -10vac rpm's at about 3500 or so. i depress the gas turbo starts to spool car speeds up but slowley and as soon as it gets to about 2-4psi a quick pshhhh is heared quickly over and over from the drivers side. boost gauge flucatuates back to 0 then it pressurizes back to 2-4 over and over. it is not the bov opening because i can release the gas and hear the bov open on the other side of the engine while its still doing the retarted pshh on the other.
then down shift to 4th and floor it and it will spool up rev up and haul *** flawlessley.
ive gone over the piping 3 times vacume lines everything........
food for though my setup is simple t3t4 internally waste gated into the exhaust i cannot hear the waste open just bov.
it seems to be if you are at a low enough rpm in a high enough gear and mash the gas you can make it happen on command. it sounds kind of like what you hear if you intentionally try to keep the boost level at dead 0 where its in limbo between vacume opening the bov and actually spooling. only the noise is from the other side of the engine it a quick suttle noise and it happens over and over again quickly.

Just a thought...
Could it possibly be your wastegate fooling you with that sound???
What sort of shape is your gate spring in? and what is it set to?
Are you running a fancy boost controller or anything?
