Default BOV problem (turboXS rfl)

I had a hks ssv before and never noticed this problem. I have the turboXS rfl now. If i get on my car and it boosts up to full boost and even alittle lower the bov goes off with no problems (loud wooossshhh), but if im going along at part throttle and hit slight boost and let off i'll get compressor surge for a sec or so then a high pitched sound from the bov. Is this normal? I have the bov on like it came in the package. As loose as it can get (no washers added). Anyone have this problem? How do i fix it?

How many lbs. of boost are you running? But just for the record, I am not a big fan of Turbo XS BOV's, they seem to have this problem and many others alot.

Wierd, it's not like you are running that low of boost. Just blame it on the fact that it's a Turbo XS BOV, everyone will just smile and nod.

Would adding the washers help at all? I guess i could just hit full boost then let off every time

Check your vacuum source. Is the signal strong enough? This happened with my Greddy Type S. I would get compressor surge/very high pitched sound all the time. I rerouted the vacuum lines and with a stronger signal it worked great. Just a thought.

All my vacuum lines are zip tied on. It's the larger silicon type thats on my bov. I got some regular stock looking vacuum lines from my work. Maybe i'll try that and make the line as short as possible. thanks.

hey there is nothing wrong with the rfl bov's.it is your vacum source.i had mine connected at the throttle body and it didn't do to good,so i ran it straight to the back of the manifold and it works great.

I think i fixed it today. I took off all the silicon vacuum lines and replaced them with the stock looking rubber ones and made them all a short as possible and zip tied them up. I just hear a high pitch noise at part throttle and letting off. No more compressor surge. thanks for ur help.

It came back or maybe it really didn't go away. I dont seem to notice it til my car warms up now. Its getting really annoying. Is there any other way i can get rid of this compressor surge w/o buying a new bov?

Um, no.

Every person that's posted about having this problem (including myself) has fixed it by moving the vacuum line to a better vacuum source, and/or getting a bigger line. You may want to think of investing in a vacuum manifold, mcmaster has them for dirt cheap if you want to save $. Good luck.
