Default BOV question

This may sound like a stupid question, but I have asked a lot of people and no one seems to know for sure.
I have a T03/T04E on a B16 with Tial WG and Blitz SS BOV, and I have heard many turbos spool up enough under no load to activate the BOV (ie: sitting at a stop light.) Mine does not do this...why?

it just doesn't put enough load on the turbo to boost any i believe

mine is a small turbo and when i rev you hear my BOV sound but my friend with a gsr T4 revs and you won't hear it

its normal, mines like that too. sure the turbo spools up when u rev it at a stop, but it cant provide enough air to create positive pressure, the engine's revs climb too high to fast and just sucks air faster than the turbo can spit out.
turbo boost is not dependent on revs or speed, ect.. its based on engine load and throttle position

You sure? I always thought it it was based on load x rpm.
pretty sure. read this

"Turbos are known to respond with exhaust gas. This is partially true...
Exhaust gases are what makes the turbo spin, but unless the engine is under
load, it can "swallow" most or all the air sent from the turbo and boost
never really gets built (boost=positive pressure in intake manifold). Under
load however, the engine RPM cannot climb as fast and air is compressed by
the turbo, thus generating boost. At full throttle in neutral, although the
turbo gets spooled up, it is quite normal never to see any boost generated.
Also in lower gears, boost does not rise up as fast as in higher gears. This
is why it is better to understand turbos as reacting to engine load, rather
than RPMs."
