What causes blow by besides blown turbo seals? I've been boosting for about 2 months now and I'm already seeing oil in my bov and turbo comp. inlet.
This is a brand new turbo. Tommorow I'm gonna take off my comp. cover What should I look for? TIA.

you could have a kink or bad oil return line setup...

If the oil return bung in the oil pan is below the oil line it can cause oil to back up in the turbo.

How can I test to check that? Does my bung not look high enough?

Ok so the oil in my comp. housing and bov is usually caused by blown seals which is usually caused by backpressure in the oil return, is that right? Is there anything else I should be looking for? I'll try to get pics by tomorrow. Thanks for all the input.

i had to remove all the pistons and hone out the cylinders and install new rings on the pistons

yea that's what i thought you meant.

update: i checked my comp. housing and it does not seem to be oil in there; maybe some other substance. i'll inspect further to see what is going on.

A friend of mine once turbo'd his S10. He had such bad blow-by (in the cylinder) that he would pressurize his oil pan, and pop the dipstick out of the tube.

Imagine that pressure going into/up the oil return?

Would make it hard for gravity to pull the oil down out of the turbo.
