Rate this turbo oil return.
Then lets find out why we are blowing smoke.
The oil return points to the ground before going into the pan.
There is oil everythere on the turbo.
The charge pipes are completely saturated with oil.
Im guessing there is oil back up causing the seals to blow on the turbo.
I want honest opinions, do not rag on this car, it is a friend of mine who got screwed by the person that originally installed the setup.

Am I the only one (besides OP) that sees his oil drain port on the oil pan is angled DOWN?
This is not a good setup.. you should have a port that is either at level or with a 45* bend upwards.

You guys ever play with fluids?
Fill two containers and put a hose between them, move them up and down in relation to each other and see what happens.

Just took the pan off and flow tested the oil return, it is fine. Flows damn well actually

That is a terrible return setup into the pan. No 90 degree should be there.

Re: (MidwestAutoWorks)
that's high enough. I did one like that i never ran into problems. it's the turbo
the return is pretty ugly but i don't think that's the cause. The return isn't making it back up that much. maybe a little at first becuase it's puddling but when it reaches a certain level past the 45 bend it has no choice but to flow due to gravity. I can't see it backing up becuase of the oil line...it is ugly though.
I blame it on the cheap seals out of the ebay turbo. cheaply made. regardless he's gonna need a rebuild amight as well make the oil return a little better

That pretty much sums it up. Get rid of the garbage turbo and make the oil line a little better when you do it. The oil return is not the cause of your problem, but could be better.

yes it LOOKS small but not the problem. It's not causing it to back up......Im sorry but gravity just wont let it happen no matter how you look at it. it flows adequately but could be better.

what size is the drain also? i would take out that garbage fitting and go to the hardware store. buy your self a small section of 1/2 steel tube and give it a slight bend and weld it in the pan.
i switched to a larger size drain and havent had a problem with my turbo.
but, by the looks of what is going on, your gonna be better off sending it to be rebuilt by a professional. or just buy a new/better quality turbo. i dont personally trust jackie chan with putting together turbos.
is there alot of shaft play? in/out? side/side?
