Default Block guard or no guard and ARP rod bolts?

Hey guys!

1 question:

Just getting started on my high comp boost b16 engine. Gona use p73 pistons at about 10-12psi in the engine.

What do you think about using a block guard?

2 question:

Should i go with ARP rod bolts or just stick with OEM bolts? Max rev is gona be 8500 and 10-12psi boost.

Br, Jesper

Sleeves will crack with or without a block guard if not tuned properly. Save your money. Also 10-12 psi means nothing if we dont know turbo size. HP goal is what you need to be looking at not target boost pressure. 10.5:1 just be sure you've got a decent tuner and good fuel.

Gona run a turbonetics 50trim 0.63 A/R, looking at about 350hp in the engine. The tuning wont be a problem, gona run it on E85.

Stock cast internals will handle 350 no problem. With the right fuel and tune they will take 400ish without problems

Yeah. But the question still stands, will the oem rod bolts work or should i put in some ARP's? Did some research and some say it's worth it and some say it's not needed couse the Rod / Stroke Ratio is "perfect".

Instead of a block guard, how about forged pistons and rods.

Stock rod bolts are just fine for your Hp goal. We're pushing a completely stock GSR motor to a little over 400whp right now running mid 11's in a civic si coupe. Only issue we had was lifting the head which is about right as you should do headstuds after 350whp. Its not like your dealing with an LS bottom end . If was stock ls bottom end then i would recomend the rod bolts but i would also recomend not wasting the money and getting eagle rods and at least some nippon turbo pistons
