Default Balancing an Engine

Should you always have your crank, flywheel, underdrive pulley, rods, pistons ect.. balance after a rebuild? About how much should i expect? just so i dont get ripped off. I was told by a very smart mech who mainly builds vett engines that most after market parts such as crower come very close and dont need balancing. What are your opinions, help me out im trying to learn haha

I paid $120 to balance mine.

Regardless of how close they come, I would still have it done.

blueprinting is sort of a myth lately in the honda world. a builder will set a tolerance to which to comply with, usually much less than factory, such as bearing clearances, piston to cylinder clearance, etc. as well as weight of components. it requires of carefull consideration of differences, sometimes involving purchasing of the same part over and over untill it meets the tolelrance requirements. abolutely not worth on a street motor, unless you have cash to burn and a builder that knows his/her stuff. balancing is more than enough for a nice, happy street motor.
all that said, my first Zcar had bluepriting done at topend back in the day.

edit and spelling owns me

I can afford it, therefore I had both procedures done on my motor.

Is it necessary at all? I'm getting new sleeves pistons and rods.
Should I send in my crank, flywheel, and pressure plate? Should I bring in the pistons and rods also?

What is the usual wait time from drop off to pickup? Do I do this at any regular machine shop?
