bad pump or fuel regulator?
So I have a big problem I’m running a h22 on 440’s. it’s been running fine for about 4 weeks at 7psi. I have a no name fuel regulator, stock fuel pump.
The problem started one day out of the blue, right after I started it. The car idles fine, but has no power and the turbo mani is getting red hot. So I thought off the top off my head that that means a lean A/F. so I look at the fuel pressure gauge on the regulator, its reading all crazy flickering from 42psi to 55psi. the line that goes from the rail to the regulator is fuel injector hose. If you hold that line you can feel the hose pulsating .
So can any one tell me if that is a bad pump or fuel regulator? I thought when a pump went it just stopped? And went a fuel regulator went it just stuck open.
Help please
disconnect the vaccum source to the regulator and see if the pulsation stops. also if its a cheap regulator its possible the boost coming into the vaccum line damaged it in some way. idunno just my .02
The regulator might of got something stuck in it.It happened to me 3 times. So try another regultor or FMU.Take off the fuel lines and blow them out with an air hose.THat should work.
One more thing,This other thing happened to me a few years ago,The regulator on the fuel ril started leaking gas into the motor so be careful.Drain your oil and see if U see gas coming out of the oil pan and smell it.If it does,Put new oil in it and run it for 15 minutes,Then drain it,Change the oil filter and add new oil again cause if U dont do this exactly like I say,U will scratch your main and rod bearings up.But make sure when U first take off the regulatr,Try to blow through the vacuume side and if air comes out through the gas return,Then your regulator is blown.Good luck
